Warranty
Every engine we sell to New Zealand carries a 1-year limited warranty from the date of confirmed delivery, covering defects in materials and workmanship.
Your rights under New Zealand law come first
If you are buying as a consumer, you have guarantees under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that cannot be contracted out of. Our warranty is in addition to those rights, not instead of them, and nothing on this page limits them. Where our warranty gives you more than the Act requires, you get the benefit of both.
If you are buying for the purposes of a business, the parties may agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, as permitted by section 43(2) of that Act. Where that agreement is in place, the warranty below is your cover.
What is covered
- Manufacturing defects in the engine block, cylinder heads, pistons, camshaft and other internal components
- Premature failure or malfunction of critical engine components
- Performance faults caused by defective parts or workmanship
What is not covered
- Normal wear and tear, and consumables — filters, belts, spark plugs
- Damage from improper installation, misuse, neglect or unauthorised modification
- Damage from poor maintenance, loss of lubrication, or overheating
- Incidental or consequential losses — towing, rental, or loss of income
These exclusions do not reduce any remedy you are entitled to under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
Installation
Professional installation by a qualified mechanic is required to maintain warranty cover. Keep your installation invoice and service records — we'll ask for them if you make a claim.
Every engine is hot tested
Engines are run on a test bench before dispatch to confirm they start, idle and operate correctly. Each engine carries a QR code on the top of the motor linking to a hot test video of your actual engine running before it was crated. Hot test videos are provided where available and may not exist for every configuration.
Making a claim
- Report it. Contact us as soon as you notice the problem, with your order number.
- Assessment. We'll guide you through it and may ask for photos, diagnostic reports, or a report from your mechanic.
- Inspection. If the claim is accepted we'll arrange return of the engine for inspection, then repair or replace it.
We work directly with your mechanic wherever possible — it's usually the fastest route to a diagnosis.
Why crate engine warranties work differently
An engine is one part of a system. Fuel quality, cooling, lubrication and engine management all affect how it runs, and a fault in any of them can present as an engine problem. That's why we assess installation and maintenance records as part of a claim — not to avoid claims, but to find the actual cause.
Aftermarket bolt-on parts can introduce compatibility problems or additional stress. Damage caused by incompatible bolt-ons isn't covered.
Emissions and compliance
Our engines are built to the same emissions standard as the original engine fitted to your vehicle. New Zealand compliance and certification for your specific vehicle is your installer's responsibility to confirm — check with your mechanic or a certifier before ordering if your vehicle needs to pass compliance after the engine change.
