Refund policy

Clear, fair terms so you know exactly where you stand before you order.

Your rights under New Zealand law

If the engine is faulty, not as described, or doesn't do what we said it would, you have remedies under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing on this page limits those rights. The policy below is our additional change-of-mind policy, which the Act does not require us to offer.

Change of mind — 7 days

We accept change-of-mind returns within 7 calendar days of confirmed delivery, provided:

  • the engine is unused and has not been installed or started
  • it is in clean, unaltered condition
  • the original crate and packaging are intact and undamaged

Not eligible

  • The engine has been installed, used or started
  • Parts have been removed, swapped or altered
  • The crate or packaging is damaged or missing
  • The return is started after the 7-day window
  • Cosmetic appearance alone — crate engines are industrial products and minor cosmetic variation does not affect performance or reliability

What a change-of-mind return costs you

Please read this before ordering, because on an engine these are large numbers.

Cost Amount
Restocking fee 10% of the engine purchase price
Return freight to our warehouse Your responsibility — typically NZ$830–NZ$1,320 depending on your location and carrier
Original outbound freight Not refunded

On a NZ$8,750 engine, a change-of-mind return can therefore cost you NZ$2,000 or more. This is why we'd much rather confirm fitment with you before you buy — call us and we'll check it against your vehicle at no cost.

These costs apply to change-of-mind returns only. They do not apply where the engine is faulty or not as described, in which case your Consumer Guarantees Act remedies apply and we cover return freight.

How to return an engine

  1. Contact us within 7 days of confirmed delivery on +61 461 265 808.
  2. We confirm eligibility and send return freight instructions.
  3. Ship it back in the original crate, secured for heavy freight.
  4. We inspect it on arrival to confirm all original parts are intact and it is unused.
  5. Refund to your original payment method, less the restocking fee.

Parts verification

Every returned engine is inspected to confirm all original components are present. If parts are missing, removed or swapped, the refund is held until they're returned. This protects the quality of stock for every other customer.

Already installed and there's a fault?

That's a warranty matter, not a return — different terms and process apply. See our Warranty page, or call us and we'll start the claim.

Before you buy

Check the specifications, engine code and fitment notes on the listing, and call us if there's any doubt. Confirming fitment before purchase is free. A return isn't.
