The motor is supplied brand new. It is not a used engine or a remanufactured assembly. Its complete-motor configuration includes the external components specified on the written order, allowing buyers and installers to confirm the package before purchase.
Cummins 4BT Engine specifications
| Engine model | Cummins 4BT |
| Capacity | 3.9 litres |
| Configuration | Inline four-cylinder |
| Fuel type | Diesel |
| Aspiration | Turbocharged |
| Advertised output | 150hp, approximately 112kW |
| Electrical specification | 12V |
| Condition | Brand New |
| Supplied configuration | Complete Motor |
The 12V specification refers to the electrical system. Rated engine speed, torque and duty classification must be checked against the supplied engine’s data plate and build documentation. The advertised 150hp output should not automatically be interpreted as a continuous-duty rating.
What is included with the complete motor?
This Cummins 4BT Engine is offered as a complete motor. The exact accessory package must be confirmed against the product photographs and written order, as complete engines can be configured differently for different installations.
Confirm these before ordering
Before ordering, confirm the turbocharger, injection pump, injectors, fuel lines, manifolds, starter motor, alternator, flywheel and flywheel housing supplied with the assembly. Also check whether any mounting brackets or application-specific fittings are included.

Only included when specifically listed on the order
A complete 4BT Crate Engine may still require external installation components. A radiator, intercooler, transmission, exhaust system, wiring, conversion mounts and connecting pipework are only included when specifically listed on the order.

Choosing a 4BT Crate Engine for your application
Matching the engine name is only the first step when purchasing a replacement. Different 4BT builds can use different sumps, engine mounts, flywheel housings, accessory positions and fuel-system settings.
Replacing an existing engine
- ✓Original engine serial number
- ✓CPL or build information
- ✓Clear photographs
These details help establish whether the replacement Cummins 4BT Engine matches the existing equipment or requires components to be transferred.
Repower project
- →Engine-bay space
- →Operating weight
- →Transmission compatibility
- →Cooling capacity
- →Required duty cycle
A suitable 4BT Crate Engine must match the demands of the finished installation as well as the available space.
Mounting, transmission and electrical checks
Before fitting the engine, compare the mounting points, sump clearance, flywheel arrangement and transmission connection. Check the position of the intake, turbocharger outlet, exhaust connection and cooling hoses.
Mounting pointsSump clearanceFlywheel arrangementTransmission connectionIntake positionTurbocharger outletExhaust connectionCooling hoses
The 12V starting and charging equipment must be compatible with the installation. Confirm the starter and alternator specifications where these components are included, together with the required battery, cables and controls.
The complete motor is not a universal conversion kit. Vehicle and machinery installations may require additional brackets, adapters, plumbing, wiring or other application-specific components.
Preparing your 4BT Crate Engine for installation
Before installing the replacement engine, identify why the original motor failed. Inspect the cooling system, fuel supply, intake and exhaust for contamination, restrictions or damage that could affect the new assembly.
Use the correct fluids, filters, priming procedure and commissioning instructions for the supplied engine. The installer should check oil pressure, coolant temperature, charging operation and fluid leaks before placing the engine under load.

For machinery operating for extended periods, confirm that the engine’s rated speed and duty classification suit the job. Selecting a 4BT Crate Engine by horsepower alone does not establish its suitability for continuous operation.

Know what you're buying
New vs reconditioned crate engines
Plenty of engines sold into New Zealand are old, patched motors with new seals, called "remanufactured". Here's the honest difference with a brand new crate engine.
What we sell
Brand new crate engine
Built from new components only, to OEM+ specification, with the known factory weak points engineered out.
- Forged steel crankshaft, upgraded pistons, improved oil galleries
- Zero kilometres — no unknown history, no wear
- Hot tested with QR video proof on every engine
- Heat tabs fitted for transparent warranty coverage
- 1-year warranty standard, 2–3 year Platinum available
- No exchange required — keep your old engine
The old way
Reconditioned / used
A worn core with new seals and gaskets — the internals, and the history, are whatever they are.
- Unknown kilometres, service history and prior abuse
- Original worn internals retained under new gaskets
- Rarely tested before sale — you're the test
- Core charges and exchange units required
- Typical warranty: 3 months, if any
- Early failures inherit the old engine's problems
Before you fit it
Plan the job around the whole vehicle
A new engine only lasts if the reason the old one failed is fixed. Your mechanic should check these before fitting.
Find the original cause
Overheating, cooling faults, blocked intakes or fuel issues that killed the old engine will kill the new one too. Diagnose and fix them first.
Check the parts you reuse
Radiator, hoses, injectors, turbo, intercooler and sensors carried over from the old engine should be inspected, cleaned or replaced.
Follow the fitting requirements
Fitted by a qualified mechanic with a tax invoice, correct fluids and a proper first start-up. This keeps your warranty active.

Is this engine brand new?
Yes. Built from new components only — not reconditioned, not second-hand, zero kilometres.
What's included with the engine?
This is a long block. Accessories such as the turbo, injectors, pumps, sensors and manifolds are transferred from your existing engine unless listed otherwise. Check the description or ask us if unsure.
Will I pay GST or customs fees on delivery?
Yes. Prices are in NZD excluding GST. When the engine arrives, NZ Customs collects 15% GST plus an import entry transaction fee and biosecurity levy (around NZ$172 combined) before it is released. Engines are duty-free. You pay those charges directly to Customs, not to us.
How long does delivery to New Zealand take?
The estimated delivery window is shown next to the Add to cart button. We'll send tracking as soon as your engine is dispatched.
How does the warranty work?
1-year warranty covering manufacturing and assembly faults, with 2 and 3-year Platinum cover available. Installation by a qualified mechanic with a tax invoice is required to activate cover.
Do I need to send my old engine back?
No. No core charge and no exchange — keep or sell your old engine.
